The Principal Product Designer will ensure that every project output fits within the eDreams overall ecosystem and company strategy in order to meet business objectives and goals.
You’ll help to define the design direction and vision for the company initiatives, working in partnership with Designers, Design Lead, Experience Lead and Design System Principle. You ensure they are defined and communicated in a way that provides clear direction to other designers and product teams. You’ll explain and promote ‘Best Practices’ and innovative design approaches to enable teams to achieve world-class design at eDreams and ensure design direction is in place to support the product roadmaps and strategy of product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Help to define the vision for the product
- Contribute to the overall strategy and decision-making about product direction by bringing together Design, UX Research and UX
- Writing to deliver best in class products
- Be the bridge between Designers and Experience lead to promote a balance of ‘Best Practices’ and innovative design approaches to enable Designers to achieve world-class design
- Be the bridge between Designers and Design System Principal to ensure it is developed and applied correctly
- Partnering closely with Design Leads and other stakeholders to set the design vision and direction for a project or initiative, raise the visual and interaction design quality and get teams working in a way that makes great products.
- Actively contribute to the area strategy and drive its product vision.
- Identify new problems and opportunities and drive impactful solutions to them
- Have deep context of the entire product and competition
2. Help to define the design direction for initiatives/projects
- Influence, challenge and enable teams to deliver high-quality product experiences.
- Act as a force multiplier for the entire design area. You will help all teams to deliver better work.
- Be the bridge between Designers, Design Lead and Experience Lead
- Working in close partnership with Designers to ensure the quality of the delivery
- Working in close partnership with Designers to ensure the design process is followed correctly
- Take ownership of your work and responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way.
- Ensure the design system is applied correctly
3. Additional responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate and evangelize design thinking throughout the organization with compelling storytelling
- Teach your skills to less senior designers
- Step in as a Product Manager for a given project.
- Participate in strategic sessions with upper management to shape product thinking
- Master at setting expectations with stakeholders and peers
- Deep understanding of business metrics
4. What does success looks like:
- You will impact the Design team by helping in defining the strategy and vision for our products
- Designers impacted by you increase the consistency and quality of the experiences they deliver.
- Teams impacted by you have a greater awareness of all the connecting dots across areas and how to achieve seamless experiences
Required qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years professional Product Design experience as a key member of a Product Design team participating in the product development lifecycle of several successfully delivered web, mobile and/or software applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in design, related field, or equivalent professional experience
- You will bring innovation and easy to utilize design solutions to all that we design in eDreams addressing complex business and user needs.
- You are able to influence others in order to get design by-in
- You have a broad range of skills with strengths in visual product design.
- You are an advocate for user-centred Design principles
- Preferred experience in the travel industry, more specifically in accommodation and/ or holiday packages
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring Product Designers
- Understanding of complex e-commerce businesses, preferably with travel industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree in design, related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated experience using data to inform design decisions
- Experience hands-on in Product Design and research.
- Experience in A/B Testing.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- English speaker with good written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Team player with a positive attitude and sense of humour.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
